PROGRAM COORDINATOR - 5 POSITIONS (Toronto, ON - Surrey, BC - Vernon, BC - Prince George, BC - Victoria, BC)

Job Description
Hockey 4 Youth’s Program Coordinators are responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing on and off-ice programs in cities across Canada. This role involves working closely with youth participants, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the success and sustainability of our initiatives. Reports to a regional Manager of Operations.

We are hiring one (1) program coordinator in each of the following cities for the 2024-25 season:

  • Toronto, ON

  • Surrey, BC

  • Vernon, BC

  • Prince George, BC

  • Victoria, BC 

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Management

    • Develop, implement, and oversee on-ice hockey programs for youth, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives

    • Coordinate program schedules, locations, and logistics, including ice time, transportation, and equipment

    • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to improve outcomes

  • Participant Engagement

    • Recruit and engage youth participants, ensuring programs are accessible and inclusive

    • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to participants, fostering a positive and encouraging environment

    • Facilitate experiential learning activities

  • Volunteer Coordination

    • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with program delivery

  • Community Outreach

    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders

    • Represent Hockey 4 Youth at community events and meetings to promote programs and initiatives

  • Administrative Duties

    • Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and outcomes

    • Sharing digital assets (pictures, video, stories) with the communications team

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Strong understanding of Skating and Hockey fundamentals

  • Enjoy working with high school students

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Great people and relationship skills

  • Passion for youth development, diversity in sports and community engagement

  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours

  • A Vulnerable Sector Check will be required

  • Candidate should have access to a vehicle

Experience

  • Minimum one year of experience as a Hockey or Skating Instructor

  • Past Coaching/Teaching experience preferred

Expected hours

  • This is a part-time role. Hours will vary from 5-15 hrs/week

Compensation

  • This is a paid position. Compensation amounts vary by province

Founded in 2015, Hockey 4 Youth is a charitable organization based in Toronto, ON. Our mission is to foster social inclusion for newcomer kids and teens and youth who face barriers through free ice hockey, as well as our off-ice life skills T.E.A.C.H. programming (Technology, Entrepreneurship, Community Giving and Healthy Active Living). Since 2015, Hockey 4 Youth has worked with 700+ teens of all genders who represent 41 countries of origin including: Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine, India, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Uganda, Vietnam, Philippines and Mexico. Hockey 4 Youth has programs in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Hamilton, Surrey, Vernon and Windsor with plans to expand to more communities across Canada in 2024.
